A good hat needs no explanation. Knowing where the work went is still worth something.
One line of embroidery, three colours, no logo. With a cap like this, everything depends on what you put back into the space you cleared. The work went where it does not show instead: the sweatband is double-stitched and the buckle is matte-plated rather than painted.
Those are the places that give out first on something you actually wear — a single-layer sweatband stains through in one summer, and a painted buckle shows the metal underneath the first time it is scratched. The three colours are what survived being tried, one at a time, over a white shirt, over denim and over black.
