Process
Four stations
The places a single hat passes through before it reaches the table.
01
Blocking
The straw is drawn over a wooden block to set the volume of the crown. The character of the hat is decided here.
02
Brim shaping
The curve of the brim is pressed by hand. Half a degree of asymmetry reads instantly from the front.
03
Band fitting
Silk band and rear buckle go on. It is the only surface that touches the head, so the stitch pitch is the tightest on the hat.
04
Inspection
The finished hat is turned once on the table. That is the angle you are looking at now.
