A good hat needs no explanation. Knowing where the work went is still worth something.
An open mesh lets the wind pass straight through, so nothing collects against the scalp even at 35°C. What makes a summer hat hot is usually the weave, not the fibre: pack the yarn tight and you stop the sun, but you stop the air with it. This mesh leaves those gaps open and puts the UV protection into the cloth itself instead. Worn down the brim reads sharp; turned up it reads soft — one hat with two faces.
Sweep the brim up with a finger and it stays where you put it. Fold it into a bag and it comes back out with its shape intact; get it wet and it dries before you have finished your coffee. It is the hat that takes up the least room in a suitcase.
